Have you attended one of our food waste dye workshops?
After you dye your fabric with dye made from onion skins and/or avocados, you will take it home in a plastic bag and rinse it yourself using these instructions:
Rinse by hand (optional to wear gloves) in an outdoor space, slop sink, or kitchen sink by running cold water over your fabric until the water runs clear. If you get dye on the surface of your sink, use diluted bleach or Fantastik cleaner to wash it away.
Wash your item with mild detergent (Seventh Generation or dish-soap) either by hand or in the washing machine. If in the machine, use cold water, delicate setting, and DO NOT wash with other items yet. Avoid washing with colors or whites for the next 1-3 washes to ensure dye does not bleed onto other items.
Ongoing care: Washing machine (okay with colors and whites): cold water, delicate cycle, mild detergent, hang dry, wear often : )

Have you attended one of our indigo dye workshops?
After you indigo dye your item, you will take it home in a plastic bag and rinse it yourself using these instructions:
Rinse by hand (optional to wear gloves) in an outdoor space, slop sink, or kitchen sink while your items are still bound with rubber bands or other materials. Run cold water over your fabric until the water runs clear. If you get blue on the surface of your sink, use diluted bleach or Fantastik cleaner to wash it away.
Unbind your fabric and rinse again in cold water until water runs clear. Imagine punching out the white parts of your designs to get clean lines and prevent dye from bleeding.
Wash your item with mild detergent (Seventh Generation or dish-soap) either by hand or in the washing machine. If in the machine, use cold water, delicate setting, and DO NOT wash with other items yet. Avoid washing with colors or whites for the next 3-4 washes to ensure dye does not bleed onto other items.
Ongoing care: Washing machine (okay with colors and whites): cold water, delicate cycle, mild detergent, hang dry, wear often : )
